Talent Acquisition Partner (Florida based)
Approximately 20% travel (local and overnight)Covanta’s Waste to Energy Talent Acquisition function encompasses various areas of Covanta’s operations in the Field as well as Corporate. The field / plant-based positions include roles in the Energy from Waste (EfW) facilities, Field Services, Waste Transfer Stations, Metals and Ash Processing facilities. The Corporate based positions include roles with Engineering, Maintenance, Construction, Projects, Strategic Sourcing, Continuous Improvement, Environmental, Health and Safety teams.


What We Envision for You:

This is an opportunity to be part of Covanta’s growth and a key member of our geographically dispersed Talent Acquisition team supporting an employee base of about 4,000 in US, Canada and Europe. The Talent Acquisition Partner reports directly to the Talent Acquisition Manager and will interact with all levels and functions of the regional business. You can be based in one of our facilities in FL or may be remotely located in Florida with the ability to commute to the location several days per week. As our Talent Acquisition Partner for the region, you will act as primary recruiting subject matter expert with a strong emphasis on planning and executing innovative sourcing and search strategies. While the primary focus of this role will be the EfW Supply Chain business, there could be opportunities to work on roles with other business units in the field or corporate. You can expect to travel regionally when needed, but not more than 20% on average. What You’ll Do:
  • Be an effective, efficient, responsive and engaged recruiting partner
  • Lead recruiting efforts across different disciplines, levels and geographies
  • Work collaboratively with Hiring Managers and HR Business Partners to provide both transactional and strategic talent acquisition support to fill critical roles expeditiously
  • Apply your sourcing, screening and candidate closing expertise to fill open requisitions, build talent pipelines, further diversity hiring initiatives, and participate in career events
  • Identify, source, and develop candidates ideally through self-sourcing or lower-cost resources
  • Effectively screen and deliver a slate of qualified candidates within the target compensation range
  • Participate in regional industry, diversity, veteran and college hiring events
  • Ensure Hiring Managers have the best tools and training to make solid business decisions
  • Create positive outcomes for both stakeholders and candidates with a keen eye on candidate experience
  • Manage the offer process (offer recommendation, extensions and supplying offer packets) to ensure seamless transitions from candidate to pre-hire/new hire
  • Utilize multiple forms of technology (ATS, CRM, networks, etc.) to effectively track and manage candidate flow
  • Provide timely metrics, reports and status updates on assigned requisitions/ projects or as requested
  • Maintain a sound understanding of the Covanta’s value proposition, business and hiring needs, industry trends and niche sites
  • Partner with other TA team members on team goals and projects
  • Own and champion one or more Micro COE’s and act as SME to the team
  • Other HR initiatives, as needed
  • Work in compliance with industry rules, regulations and practices
  • Maintain confidentiality, accuracy and keep sensitive information secured

Position Requirements

Who You Are:

Education & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant recruiting experience. Candidates without a 4-year degree may be considered depending on experience.
  • Recent and strong experience recruiting in Power, Manufacturing, Energy from Waste (EfW), Industrial Engineering, Environmental, Waste Management or Sustainability industries.
  • Experience sourcing for one or more these functions – maintenance, instrumentation, electrical, industrial operators, technicians, safety or related operationally focused functions
  • Experience with recruiting for salaried as well as non-exempt / hourly roles
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in direct candidate sourcing methodology utilizing a variety of cost-effective tools and sources
  • Demonstratable working knowledge of SaaS based Applicant Tracking Systems (Peoplefluent/Peopleclick, Workday, Taleo, Kenexa/Brass Ring, ICIMS preferred)
  • Experience as a talent advisor/partner to multiple sites and/or business units


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to manage full-lifecycle recruiting for an average of 25 requisitions while providing high-level partnership and advisory services to your key stakeholders
  • Ability to drive accountability in both yourself as well as stakeholders/process owners
  • Strong history of successful partnership with site-level and corporate HR
  • Demonstrated success in developing talent pipelines and professional networks relevant to the roles you manage
  • Act as a champion for Diversity, Inclusion and innovation in all you do
  • Knowledgeable of federal and state laws governing EEO, ADA, and appropriate hiring practices
  • Ability to create and execute multi-faceted recruiting/sourcing strategies in a fast-paced and demanding environment

  • Comfort with working in a geographically dispersed team
  • Strong champion of change and comfortable in assisting with change management
