We are seeking a Senior Software Developer who is passionate about working on systems problems for the betterment of the environment. Your work will help shape the first generation of VMware’s Sustainability services.

As a member of the Virtual Machine Monitor team, you will play a key role in understanding application use cases and developing code in the hypervisor and OS kernel to provide visibility and control over the power and carbon utilization of customer workloads.

Skills & Experience Needed

Required

This work requires you to possess an understanding of system architecture and OS kernel internals, including memory management, resource management. Looking for a proven software engineer with a passion for working on broad systems-oriented problems.

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s (strongly preferred) in Computer Science

• Knowledge of OS kernel internals, including memory management, resource management

• Must be an excellent hands-on implementer with strong C/C++ programming skills in a Linux/Windows environment

• Solid software engineering background with a passion for delivering enterprise-quality software

Preferred

• Knowledge of Hardware System Management, including power management, sensor management, IPMI, Redfish

• Knowledge of x86 system architecture

• Experience in managing complex applications and services in a virtualized (Java or x86) or container-based environments.

• Experience in low-level management of cloud-based applications and services.
