Total Compensation Statement
Your Benefits are a significant part of your state compensation. The total compensation package could be anywhere from $56,706 to $67,358 annually. The total compensation package includes annual salary, insurance, retirement, leave and holidays.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles delivers Motorist and Law Enforcement services through the use of a scalable, reliable and secure statewide network. The Network Services team supports these services by providing network administration, voice communication and other information technology support for systems that utilize the wide-area and local-area network infrastructure.
The Network team provides a broad range of vital telecommunications, networking and consulting services to enable internal departments and external partners to utilize network technologies to better meet their business needs. Our staff works closely with external customers and internal service areas to provide network, voice, data, and video services through structured project management.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- In depth knowledge of foundational networking protocols and services;
- Basic knowledge of VoIP and wireless technologies;
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization;
- Provide support to other network staff members in the design, setup configuration and support of complex networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications;
- Maintain a basic understanding of the basics behind the Internet and its workings (DNS, Security, IP Routing, HTTP, VPN, etc.);
- Maintain a basic understanding of Local and Wide Area Networking;
- Configuring and installing client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network and telecommunication systems;
- Assists in maintaining multi-site network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities;
- Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services;
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants with the following experience:
- Configuring Cisco routers and switches;
- Providing technical support to end users.
Job Related Requirements:
The selected applicant must pass a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) criminal history background check.
Normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., although working after hours and on weekends may occasionally be required.
General Information
The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.
The process for selecting applicant(s) for this position could take up to six months. Following the six-month period, a new application must be submitted to an open advertisement in order to be considered for that vacancy.
HSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
