Department OverviewThe Systems Engineering Group is the technical lifeblood of the Sales and Field Operations organization. Our engineers design and implement innovative communications solutions that make a difference in the moments that matter.
As the solution architecture and technical consulting lead, the Systems Engineering Group has end-to-end design, technology consultancy, and implementation responsibility for all pre and post sale engagements nationwide. The Systems Engineering Group delivers customer-driven, world-class, leading-edge, end-to-end solutions that rise to the challenges of
first responder, government, carrier, utility, transportation, and enterprise customers.
The group concentrates on the following mission-critical communications technologies at all levels of complexity (i.e. from small municipal systems to large metropolitan and state-wide solutions):
Public safety grade mobile voice and data networks
Advanced mobile devices
Public safety mobile broadband networks and devices (LTE)
Integrated command and control (9-1-1 Dispatch Consoles, Advanced Video Surveillance)
Enterprise and Public Safety Wireless LAN/WAN (802.11, Mesh)
The work we do is meaningful, impactful, and leading-edge. You will be part of a dynamic, cross-functional client-facing team including sales, system integrators, product engineers, third-party vendors, program managers, and
senior systems engineers – often on large highly-visible, multi-million dollar engagements.
Job Description
Responsibilities for the group span the project lifecycle and typically include the following pre and postsale elements:
- Customer requirements discovery
- Technology strategy development
- End-to-end system architecture design
- Competitive proposal development
- Contract negotiations
- Implementation engineering
- Professional design services
- In particular, you may assist Senior Systems Engineers with:
- Customer needs assessments End-to-end system designs including core infrastructure, tower sites, 9-1-1 dispatch centers, wireless backhaul, and advanced handsets
- End-to-end system architecture descriptions
- Coverage predictions using state-of-the-art advanced tools
- Post-sale implementation
- Coverage and operational testing
- In-field site surveys for wireless backhaul designs
Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
- High School Diploma
- 1-2+ years of college level courses towards the obtainment of a B.S. degree in Wireless, Electrical, System or Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences
- Self-motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment
- Experience working with customers is desirable Experience/ Knowledge in radio systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless, broadband, microwave, and/or networking is desirable.
- Specialization or electives in wireless communication is a definite plus.
- Experience/ Knowledge of communications networks (MPLS, Ethernet, TCP/IP) is desirable
- Certifications through CCNA, CompTIA, and/ or Amateur Radio/ HAM is desirable.
