Job Description

DC Bilingual is recruiting PK and Early Elementary Teachers to provide highly effective, rigorous data-driven instruction to students in the PK, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades for the 2021-22 School Year. All teachers are expected to work collaboratively in a co-teaching model. Teachers share planning and delivery responsibilities for all Literacy and Math instruction and are responsible for creating a strong learning culture with clear systems and procedures. DC Bilingual is seeking motivated staff that is committed to the school’s mission and will bring professionalism, urgency, and dedication to the school environment.


All staff are expected to work collaboratively within our professional learning community (PLC).


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide rigorous instruction to students by creating a safe, nurturing, and intellectually challenging learning environment and by applying the DCB content curriculum, school wide instructional strategies, non-negotiables and best practices.
  • Design data-driven classroom lessons and unit plans that meet all standards and objectives by differentiating instructional levels so that all students access the curriculum, content, and concepts. All plans and assessments must be approached collaboratively with co-teachers, instructional support team, and other staff.
  • Formally and informally assess student progress using standards, formative and summative assessments and analyze the data daily, weekly and quarterly using school wide data trackers to drive instructional decisions. Complete individual student progress reports and conduct individual parent-teacher conferences on a quarterly basis and additionally as needed.
  • Design data driven classroom lessons and unit plans that meet all standards and objectives by differentiating instructional levels so that all students access the curriculum, content, and concepts. All plans and assessments must be approached collaboratively with co-teachers, instructional support team, and other staff
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, including various modalities of coaching; receive and provide critical feedback and implement all learning in the classroom; participate in grade-level team meetings and student-focused meetings
  • Promote family engagement by developing a partnership with caretakers through ongoing positive communication, home visits and other activities that encourage active participation in student learning
  • Adhere to the No Nonsense Nurture expectations for managing student relations and behaviors
  • Adhere to and participate in DC Bilingual's commitment to developing a diverse and equitible environment
  • Meet all expectations as outlined by the DC Bilingual Leading and Learning Framework
  • Abide by the DC Bilingual 7 Agreements
  • Demonstrate dedication to the Professional Learning Community (PLC) by supporting school-wide initiatives and programs

If SPED certified

  • Provide direct support to students with disabilities by delivering specialized instruction and ensuring active learning through a variety of models and strategies.
  • Ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications occur in the curriculum, lessons and learning environment as guided in student Individualized Education Plans (IEP)
  • Develop and implement student Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and progress reports for the grade level being taught
  • Complete individual student progress reports and conduct individual parent-teacher conferences on a quarterly basis and additionally as needed
  • Utilize Special Education Data System (SEDS) regarding student files; work with SPED Manager to create IEPs, maintain special education records and timelines for students
  • Participate in MDT meetings
  • Provide behavior support as needed, including implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIP)
  • Assist in the implementation of the inclusion/resource model embedded within our Two Way Immersion Bilingual program

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or equivalent
  • DC Praxis Passing Score
  • Special Education Certification Preferred
  • Bilingual preferred but not required (Spanish/English)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with students and families from diverse backgrounds
  • Preferred two or more years of experience (preferably in an urban or culturally diverse setting)

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
