- Plans, distributes and balances the workload among team members, assures timely accomplishment of the assigned workload
- Monitors status and progress of work
- Makes day-to-day adjustments of assignments

- Provides on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices
- Checks on work in progress and reviews completed work to ascertain that proper methods and procedures have been followed
- Performs traverse and Global Positioning Surveys (GPS) surveys to determine horizontal position.
- Small boat hydrographic survey to support dredging operations or to assess the condition of the channel or other waterway.
- Topographic survey to help define and compute quantities for an upland dredge material placement site.
- GPS geodetic survey to establish both horizontal and vertical high-order survey control points.
- Plans, schedules and directs the various phases of the survey such as establishment of control and tide gages, preparation of survey systems, and collection and analysis of data.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience for GS-09:I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service which includes performing condition or reconnaissance surveys along the navigation channel or mapping surveys on water areas to determine river depths and potential navigation problems. Performs hydrographic surveys, foundation surveys, and sunken vessel/object searches

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08). EducationAdditional information- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
