JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent of this position helps to lead, coordinate, plan and evaluate the staff and activities of the Marin Outpatient Imaging Center and the Breast Health Center in an effort to achieve the goal of providing cost-effective, high quality care according to standards of Marin General Hospital, America College of Radiology, The Joint Commission, and California regulations. The supervisor in coordination with the manager, supervises administrative functions, personnel of office and resolution of common administrative problems. This position provides direct day to day supervision, of activities, achieves departmental goals, maintains quality patient care delivery, and promotes professional standards in accordance with hospital policy. In coordination with manager this position will interview, hire, conduct training, assign work schedules and conduct annual-performance evaluations and disciplinary action.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

Required certification with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or related health care field preferred.


EXPERIENCE

A minimum of three (3) years recent experience as a Mammographer and/or Radiology Technologist.

Preferred experience; in a lead or supervisory capacity, with accreditation and licensure, staff development, performance evaluation of personnel, rectifying complaints from patients, visitors, clinicians, and staff in a constructive manner. Experience working with teams, analyzing workflow, and managing conflict and change.


PREREQUISITE SKILLS

  • Supervise Imaging Technologists, Direct technical operation
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate (orally and written) effectively with diverse others, including, but not limited to –staff, colleagues, managers, medical staff, patients/families, volunteers, and community members.
  • Demonstrated skill in interpersonal and political conflict resolution
  • Ability to manage personnel through leadership and coaching, acting as mentor to all staff
  • Demonstrated creativity with identifying problems and expressing and implementing ideas for improvements.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to apply critical thinking skills and adapt to a variety of situations with appropriate action
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and communicate a team approach to patient care
  • Ability to establish utilization control measures for labor, supplies, and equipment
  • Ability to manage institutional changes through collaborative and positive leadership skills
  • Knowledge of information systems and applications, as well as Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality through knowledge of its precepts, skillful workplace applications and continuous organizational improvement

LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Must hold current Certification as a Certified Radiologic Technologist pursuant to Section 30451, Title 17 California Code of Regulations
  • Must have current certification in Mammography or Radiology with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Basic Life Support Certificate

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL

  • Performs quality exams as needed while maintaining Marin General Hospital C.A.R.E.S standards at all times.
  • Manage, monitor, coordinate, control and continuously evaluate the operations and support service activities
  • The position functions as a member of the supervising staff in setting overall direction and ensures positive group relations
  • Responsible for planning of staff management in concert with manager.
  • Completes, delivers and/or is involved in personnel evaluations, Mammography and/or Radiology Technologists,
  • Reviews policies and procedures effecting the department, involved in rewrites of policies as required
  • Uses ethical judgment and technical skills, to manage departmental operations
  • Provides fair counsel and guidance to staff who require it
  • Objectively evaluates behavior, morale, and interpersonal relationship of staff to promote methods that improve processes when needed
  • Assigns tasks to appropriate subordinates based on their knowledge, skills, and abilities with assistance of the manager
  • Manages issues encompassed by Quality Improvement process, The Joint Commission Accreditation, State licensure
  • Ensures implementation and effective use of preventive maintenance programs
  • Ensures coordination of technical functions across all assigned areas
  • Updates all assigned position descriptions as required by manager
  • Ensures certification for all Radiological Technologists who inject contrast materials
  • Ensures that staff is familiar with all hospital and department manuals. Update information in manuals is required
