Job Description

Position Summary:

Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision of 5-15 site UnityTM Lab Services personnel, enabling the team to deliver consistently excellent service to our customers. The Supervisor is responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of the customer location. Services include order processing, inventory management, life safety equipment management, freezer defrost and pipette repair/calibration. Provide direction and support for associates by processes, procedures and improvements. Ensure contractual customer needs and goals are met.

Essential Functions:

  • Participates in candidate selection process, trains, and evaluates staff’s performance. Supervises staff consistent with our organizational culture, based on four values: Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement and on open communication.
  • Ensures customer and team needs are met and quality service is delivered through staff meetings, exceeding service levels, monitoring site performance, productivity, and attendance records.
  • Collaborates with management to quantify all aspects of value creation for the customer through data collection and reporting. Writes and administers standard operating procedures to support the goals and objectives. Develops KPI’s, tracks trends, and implements best practices. Report business metrics, target and define new opportunities, act as resource for the customer in the area of service, savings and opportunities.
  • Evaluates employees training needs for training and development. Ensures that employees are cross trained.
  • Conducts site audits and support Practical Process Improvement (PPI) and focuses on improving processes and customer service. Lead improvement teams.
  • Prepare and review various operational reports and individual associate performance reports. Complete required training and performs other duties as identified.

Job-Specific Duties may include:

  • Support inventory management team:
    • Stockroom / POU management, stocking/replenishing of product, and provide direction and coordination of stockroom activities.
    • Perform stockroom duties to include receiving, put-away, stock rotation, cycle counts, and other functions according to customer requirements.
    • Remove cardboard and trash as needed (de-trashing).
    • Organize and update stocking areas complete with signage.
  • Sourcing/Order Management:
    • Perform order entry, expediting, RGA's, tracking back-orders and alternate material.
    • Facilitate vendor and customer interaction, problem resolution, cycle and inventory counts, perform as needed 3rd party & agent buys.
  • Life Safety Equipment:
    • Ensures team completes and documents equipment inspections.
    • Returns inspection reports timely and as required.
    • Identify equipment and area deviations to Safety, Health & Sustainability (SH&S).
    • Document site completion status of inspections each month.
    • Monitor life safety supplies and order replenishment as needed.
    • Document monthly metric data and report status in customer meetings.
  • Freezer/refrigerator Defrost/Repair:
    • Monitor customer work order system to identify freezer, refrigerator requests for defrost, decontamination or repair requests.
    • Help coordinate requests from customers to ensure equipment is scheduled, deconned, emptied, relocated and suppliers or contractors scheduled if needed.
    • Communicate status to all parties involved in equipment requests.
    • Document progression of equipment through the work order request process and report monthly snapshot on all work orders.
    • Maintain cycle time on all work orders and document issues /delays.
  • Pipette Repair/Calibration:
    • Act as liaison between the 3rd party pipette vendor and our customer by communicating scheduled pickup and delivery schedules.
    • Prepare customer paperwork for calibrated pipettes and return with pipettes.
    • Return all repaired or calibrated pipettes to correct location.
    • Prepare monthly metric data to indicated number of units repaired or calibrated.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business Administration, or in a related field. Equivalent combination of two-year degree and experience will be considered.
  • At least three to five years of experience in a supervisory role required.
  • Inventory Management or supply chain management system knowledge is required.
  • Experience in GLP/GMP environment preferred.
  • Customer service skills with strong communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, problem solver.
  • Excellent computer/software skills. (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, flexible hours.

Working Conditions:

  • Works primarily at customer locations, in office environment to include shipping/receiving docks, stock rooms, storage locations and laboratory environments.
  • Extensive walking may be required.
  • May pass through areas where chemical based allergens may be in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc).
