The Wayland Union Schools Board of Education is seeking a Superintendent to begin work July 1, 2022. The Board is being assisted in the search by Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB).

Wayland Union School District is in Allegan county in beautiful west Michigan. It is located on the 131 corridor halfway between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. The District serves about 2,800 students in three K-3 elementary schools, a 4-5 intermediate school, a 6-8 middle school, and a comprehensive 9-12 High School. Early childhood programs include Welcoming Schools for children ages 0-5, 3-4 year old preschool, and Young Fives. The District offers an 800 seat Fine Arts Center, a Science and Innovation Center at the High School, and has 1:1 iPads for all grade levels. The District has a revenue sharing agreement with the MATCH E BE NASH SHE WISH Tribe (Gun Lake Casino) and passed a bond issue in 2018 to complete $20 million in facility upgrades. The mission for the district is to challenge and inspire all students to become lifelong learners and productive citizens.

The Board of Education of Wayland Union Schools is seeking a superintendent who is a strong, visionary leader, has an extensive background in K-12 education, and will be an effective communicator with staff and community. This educational leader will actively work with the Board and community to set and reach goals, be an instructional leader, and be an innovative and creative problem solver. The new superintendent should be knowledgeable, ethical, honest, and friendly.

Salary and Contract Information

The District will offer a competitive wage and benefit package (salary/annuity range $145,000 to $170,000) that reflects the experience and education of the candidate chosen as the next Superintendent.
