We hire students for a full time (40 hour/week) co-op positions where you will work alongside an engineer, who many times, has been through our student program themselves! At the end of your term, you will know what it is like to be an Engineer in our organization. You will have the opportunity to interview with and work in one of our many departments who handle vehicle programs from initial concept to launch in our North American design center.
Magna Powertrain’s Student Program is a full-time internship & co-op program dedicated to promoting the automotive industry through real-world experience at Magna. The program is inclusive of all talent, but primarily focused around engineering groups.
As a student in our program you can expect to gain hands-on engineering experience, network with a variety of leaders and employees throughout the organization, meet students from other universities across the US, participate in student meetings, partake in technical training offered to all employees, and work on special department led projects. Summer 2021 Term - May - August 2021
Fall 2021 Term - September - December 2021 Student Positions for Summer AND/OR Fall 2021
SOFTWARE/COMPUTER, ELECTRICAL AND MECHATRONICS ENGINEERING MAJORS:
Electrical Hardware Engineering Student; oversee the design and release of electronic components; specifically focused on the electrical hardware design of the ECU, actuators, and sensors.
Software & HIL Test Engineering Student ; software testing in a simulated environment to test customer requirements and find bugs in the software.
Software Development Engineering Student ; Base Software; development of embedded software in C, and integration of electrical hardware and software. Application Software; development of controls software. Model based programming in Simulink, algorithm design, and translating functional requirements into software.
Mechatronic Systems Engineering Student ; system integration specifically focused on the software and electrical components of the system. (*Mechanical majors could be considered with a mechatronics background)
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING MAJORS:
Mechanical Testing ; mechanical test of the products, running the dyno’s, assisting test setup, writing test reports, reporting findings.
Advanced Engineering ; focused on developing, designing, and testing new innovative technology within driveline systems.
Product Concepts/Product Design ; product road mapping, product design and benchmarking for all North America driveline products. Qualifications Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred. Enrolled in an engineering program with an accredited school. Understand the basics of engineering theory and principles of design Knowledge in computer-based software, strong organizational/communication skills, and ability to work with others in a team environment. MUST be willing and able to work 40 hours per week
