Provides support to the Fostering Panther Pride (FPP) students to help ensure academic, personal, and career success. Utilizes the best practices to improve retention and graduation rates; provides individualized guidance and services to students who have foster care and homeless backgrounds. Connects students to relevant campus resources; monitors and tracks progress of students; maintains communication with faculty and staff in support of the students. Coordinates workshops and students enrichment activities.
- Meets with individual students to assess needs. Refers and connects students with relevant University resources (Housing, Counseling Services, Disability Resource Center, Center for Academic Success, Financial Aid, and Career Services, etc.) to be sure that students remain on the path to degree completion.
- Monitors and records progress of individual students; maintaining consistent and confidential records of student. Analyze student data to make decisions related to the student's progress.
- Serves as an advocate for students with university processes and services, as needed. Works with faculty and academic and non-academic units to track students and to ensure they are attending classes, labs, tutoring, and engaging campus activities and programs.
- Prepares students for graduation, postgraduate plans and career counseling. Coordinates workshops and student activities.
- Collaborates with faculty and staff interested in researching issues focused in both populations.
- Participates in community outreach activities.
Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.
Desired Qualifications- Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work or Higher Education preferred.
- Experience working with child welfare or homeless populations.
