Job Description

Job Title: Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP)

Reports To: Administrator/Program Director

POSITION SUMMARY: As a key member of the Northpoint team, the SUDP is responsible for providing counseling and case management services to Northpoint patients.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

· Case staffing

· Individual case supervision

· Professional and timely documentation

· Consultation with other clinical professionals

· Review of case record maintenance

· Treatment planning

· Facilitate individual, group and family therapy

· Discharge planning

· Adhere to all company policies and procedures

· Maintain confidentiality in accordance with established policies and procedures and standards of care

· Other clinically appropriate services determined by the facility

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION:

· Must be certified in Washington to meet the standards and requirements under WAC 246-337 “Substance Use Disorder Professionals” at the time of hire and throughout the duration of employment or contract.

· Hour requirements:

o Two thousand five hundred hours of chemical dependency counseling, for individuals who have an associate degree; or

o Two thousand hours of chemical dependency counseling for individuals who have a baccalaureate degree in human services or a related field from an approved school; or

o One thousand five hundred hours of chemical dependency counseling for individuals who possess a master or doctoral degree in human services or a related field from an approved school; or

o One thousand hours of chemical dependency counseling for individuals who are credentialed according to WAC 246-337. The experience must be supervised by an approved supervisor meeting the requirements under WAC 246-337;

· Experience requirements:

o Two hundred hours of clinical evaluation, of which one hundred hours must be face-to-face patient contact hours;

o Six hundred hours of face-to-face counseling to include:

§ Individual counseling;

§ Group counseling;

§ Family, couples and significant others;

o Fifty hours of discussion of professional and ethical responsibilities;

o Transdisciplinary foundations:

§ Understanding addiction, treatment knowledge, application to practice and professional readiness;

o Treatment planning;

o Referral;

o Service coordination;

o Client, family, and community education; and

o Documentation to include screening, intake, assessment, treatment plan, clinical reports, clinical progress notes, discharge summaries and other client related data.

**Note: of the total experience hours required under WAC 246-337, eight hundred fifty hours of experience must be divided among subsection (2)(a) through (c) of this section. The remaining experience hours must be divided among subsection (2)(d) through (i) of this section as determined by the Clinical Supervisor.

· Understanding of mandatory reporting responsibilities, per state guidelines

· An understanding of and adherence to the ethical standards of the respective license adopted by the governing board of licensure

· Knowledge and skills in English usage, interpersonal relationships and excellent communication skills

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:

· Must hold an active SUDP and license/application must remain in good standing

· Must maintain current and nationally accredited CPR/First Aid/AED certification

· None

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· Indoor office environment

· Must be able to work until 9PM, two nights per week, if necessary

· Requires heavy use of mouse and keyboard

· Exposure to disturbed and potentially aggressive patients is possible. Stress ranges from low to intense depending on the situation

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

· Completion of a tuberculin screening during first week of employment

· Completion of a pre-employment drug screening, post-accident and random for upon reasonable suspicion of use

· Completion of orientation and required paperwork prior to reporting to work

· Demonstrated computer literacy

· Completion of CPR/First Aid Training within first 90 days of employment

· Attendance at all mandatory staff development and training

· Completion of background and reference checks

· Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
