Responsibilities

We are looking to hire immediately for a Patient Safety Companion position. Patient Safety Companion are sitters where their primary role will be required to sit with Behvioral Health Patients system wide Float pool department and ensure the safety of the patient.

Patient Safety Companion (PSC) is a member of the System Float Pool (SFP) Nursing team and works under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The PSC understands each patient is unique and treats the patient family members and others with dignity and respect. The PSC will provide constant observation of the patient at risk for suicide, falls, confusion, and or combativeness. Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.

PRN/As Needed Only Position. Patient Safety Companions must work 24 hours in a 6 week period, and 8 of those hours must be weekend hours. A weekend is considered 7pm Friday to 7am Monday. This position has the obligation to float to all locations system-wide.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED
• Strong communication skills
• Ability of work independently, interdependently and set priorities
• Demonstrates the ability to accept and adapt to change
• Understand the need for assistance in the event of patient distress
