DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International is seeking a Structures Department Manager to lead and grow a talented multi-discipline structures team in the inspection, analysis, and design of bridges, retaining walls, flood control structures and vertical/building structures.
- Lead, assign, and/or review the work of the project delivery team. Provide technical guidance and oversight for the design and detailing of complex transportation structures, with an emphasis on experience and knowledge of the design, analysis, inspection and maintenance of highway and railroad bridges.
- Provide oversight of department project performance per agreed to scope, budget, and schedule.
- Lead department compliance and adherence to quality management and quality assurance practices.
- Coach, develop, and mentor staff. Attract, develop, and retain talented structural professionals.
- Coordinate business development activities of the Department supporting overall growth objectives including project pursuits, client outreach and marketing, capture planning, technical and price proposal development, and interview preparation and participation.
- Build and maintain relationships with key client decision makers, keeping ahead of upcoming project advertisements and changes in the clients’ organization.
- Be a visible and an active member of the Southern California engineering community through professional organization involvement.
- Serve as a project manager on multi-discipline design projects.
- Collaborate with the national Bridge Technical Services Manager, as well as structural engineering managers from other Michael Baker offices around the country and be part of a dynamic team responsible for expanding the structural engineering practice currently servicing state, county, and municipal clients.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with 15+ years of bridge related design experience is required
- A California PE is required (Having a California SE License is preferred)
- 5+ years of specific project management experience is strongly preferred
- Experience with road and/or rail bridge rehabilitation design, seismic analysis, and load rating analysis is required.
- Project Management experience with transportation/infrastructure agencies located in California, such as Caltrans, OCTA, and/or municipalities is strongly preferred
- Experience managing projects involving multiple disciplines such as roadway, drainage, geotechnical, and environmental, is strongly preferred
- Experience supervising the execution, financial performance, and quality assurance of multiple simultaneous projects is strongly preferred
- Experience with and understanding of AASHTO LRFD design and complex structural analysis software such Midas including CSi is strongly preferred
