Growing engineering firm has an opening for a structural engineer in its Tulsa, Oklahoma office to design and review steel structures and concrete buildings in the energy sector and processing plants. You will provide complete engineering designs and calculations, review and approve the designs prepared by other engineers, and communicate with the customers. Responsibilities:
- Provide load calculations and STAAD modeling for the steel structures.
- Design structural components utilizing STAAD model. Provide STAAD modeling with the structural component information from the shop drawings and bill of materials.
- Provide structural steel and concrete building design and calculations using STAAD and RISA.
- Provide steel connection calculations, designs and drawings using RAM Connection.
- Communications among the customers and other engineers.
- Field evaluation and gathering the required information.
- Review and approve the designs, drawings, calculations and reports prepared by other engineers. Prepare the calculation reports.
- Achieve agreed outcomes within schedule and budget.
- Continuously improve through feedback.
Skills and Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering is required. Master's degree in civil or structural engineering is highly desirable.
- Proficient with, and minimum 5 years’ experience in STAAD, Ram Connection and RISA. FEA experience is desirable. Minimum 5 years of field and fabrication experiences.
- P.E. License is required. S.E. License is preferable.
- Strong knowledge of building and design codes. Experience and knowledge of British Standards and Eurocodes are plus.
- Strong understanding of structural behavior, structural construction, fabrication drawings and bill of materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are must. Highly efficient on reading and understanding specifications.
- Experience in using MathCAD for calculations.
- Excellent time-management skills and attention to detail are must.
- Strong work ethic, flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as required.
- Capable of working on multi-faceted engineering design projects of any magnitude while requiring minimum supervision.
