Principal Offering Manager – Portfolio Business Unit
Position Overview
To achieve NI’s Core Strategic Vision to be the leader in software-defined automated test and automated measurements systems, the company strategy is aligned behind four business units: Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Semiconductor, and Portfolio.
The Offering Manager role drives strategic direction within NI’s Portfolio business unit. Offering managers explore market opportunities and develop business plans that expand NI’s serviceable addressable market (SAM) and market share through new offerings. The Offering Manager works cross-functionally throughout the organization to develop complete differentiated solutions that holistically address customer needs.
This senior-level OM position will develop the strategy and roadmap to expand NI’s market share within electronics and embedded software validation test of:
Renewable technologies, such as grid-tied storage and charging infrastructure
Building automation and white goods, such as home appliances, security, and safety systems
Medical devices, such as pacemakers and continuous glucose monitors
Key Responsibilities
Assess and define new market spaces, including total addressable market (TAM) and serviceable addressable market (SAM) analysis
Develop end-to-end business plans for offerings; set detailed direction and priorities across disciplines
Effectively communicate with highly technical customers (e.g. Architect-level Design Engineers and System Engineers) and business leaders (e.g. Senior Program Managers, Business Development Managers, Director/VP of Product Line, Director/VP of Operations, etc.)
Monitor key technology trends affecting cutting-edge applications, such as machine learning, data analytics, edge compute, and advances in communications
Develop offering objectives, including identifying key market challenges, and validating customer value
Lead design of differentiated offerings and customer experiences
Establish leading and lagging performance indicators and deliver financial results for offerings
Manage offerings in market and respond to market feedback
Key Performance Objectives
Define clear strategic investment priorities – Assess and prioritize investments for new offerings in target market spaces
Achieve strong profitable growth – Drive revenue, profit, and share gain for selected offerings. Ensure clear understanding of what measures will drive results
Build a customer-focused culture – Regularly seek and share feedback. Implement initiatives to act on that feedback and provide a competitive edge through offerings and go-to-market strategy. Celebrate important customer wins and offering successes.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
10 years of experience in product management, validation engineering, new product definition, or corporate business development
Experience developing and validating business cases and differentiated products or offerings
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science
Willingness to travel up to 25%, including international travel
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a global and multinational technology company
Strong cross-functional team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
MBA, demonstrated P&L (profit & loss) responsibility, or comparable business experience
