Summary
The Store Bicycle Technician position is a blended role for candidates who enjoy customer service interaction while expanding their knowledge of bicycle mechanics. A successful candidate will possess a background in the bicycle industry and retail experience.
Candidates will be expected to continually expand their knowledge of the day-to-day processes including keying transactions, processing returns and exchanges, and handling escalated issues. Additionally, candidates will be expected to practice the Company’s core values in their day-to-day role.
Essential Responsibilities
- Interact and identify customer needs; advise customers on component upgrades, repairs for their bicycles, and new apparel and merchandise.
- Apply technical knowledge of repairs on mountain and road bikes, suspension rebuilds, disc brake bleeds, frame upbuild, cable routing, pressing in brackets, and overhauls.
- Estimate cost and timeline of customer repairs for efficient service.
- Operate store Point of Sale (POS) System.
- Answer incoming phone calls and respond to incoming customer emails.
- Prepare the retail store for normal operations at opening time (lights, signage, setup PCs, store cleanliness, etc.) and end-of-day closing procedures.
- Assist with the setup and teardown of marketing events at the retail store location (movie premieres, vendor presentations, etc.).
- Contribute to an environment of support and teamwork to achieve company goals.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- One to two years of experience as a bicycle mechanic, technician, or builder in a retail or shop environment
- Avid cycler and advocate in your local community
- Strong verbal and written communication ability
- Ability to work in various software systems with strong capability using Microsoft Suite of programs
Compensation - This is a non-exempt/hourly position starting at $15/hour plus commission.
