1.2 General Production Operators will enter the position as a pay grade four (4) until such time as the associate is placed into a permanent position which may or may not be an increase in pay grade.
1.3 The jobs required for each department General Production Operators is shown in the table below.

1.4 General Production Operators may be placed into other production positions per business needs, provided the operators are given the necessary training curricula and associates have attained the necessary physical capacity rating required for the position. Further, depending on business needs, General Production Operators may be asked to change shifts at a later time from the original shift they were assigned. If an associate is transferred to another position with a higher pay rate, the General Production Operator will receive the pay grade for the position they are assuming.

JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Shipping/Receiving/Sterilization Facilitator, the PAO assumes the regular duties of, or temporary replacement duties for, all direct and indirect positions within (336-Sterilization, 382-Receiving, 383-Shipping) Material Control Departments, except for the positions of Shipping Coordinator, Receiving Coordinator, Lead Warehouser and Lead Sterilization Operator/Scheduler.
PAO’s will enter the position as a pay grade six (6) and must demonstrate the needed knowledge, skills, and proficiency of the jobs within their department to advance to the next pay grade. The jobs advancement progression is explained in the table below. Sterilization warehouse PAO’s must demonstrate the needed knowledge, skills, and competency of the job required for a specific pay grade before they can advance and within nine (9) months.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Material Handler)
Load product by batch into sterilization carriers.
Unloads sterile product to maintain a constant flow of product through the sterilization process.
Verifies catalog number, lot number and quantity of each lot.
Follows instructions on the Run Sheet and adheres to the correct carrier drawing for each product.
Places product in gravity racks and tracks location on white board.
Monitors palletizer, robots, stretch wrap, metal detector and labeler.
Matches the Run Sheet pallet tracers and product count to assure accurate items are accounted for.
Loads and unloads material from truck trailers, verifies count on the packing list.
Inspects trailers and accurately fills out trailer inspection form.
Moves, stretch-wraps, shrink-wraps and stacks pallets as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (IC/ICU)
Transports finished products from manufacturing to pre-sterile or shipping areas.
Determines raw material requirements, retrieves materials from the correct location, completes the appropriate issuing transactions and delivers to Manufacturing.
Verifies the accurate count before and after selecting materials from a location. Maintains license plates in current locations (as needed).
Delivers raw materials to the suggested storage area for said item in the production area. Pallets must be clean prior to entering the production area per GMP.
Communicates with the Receiving Coordinator, Purchasing, Planners, and/or Production Supervisors about shortages or potential shortages.
Keeps aware of the daily schedule and organizes raw materials for current and new orders to be run on the next shift.
Receives labels into the label cage from label printing and verifies correct material number, quantity, lot number, and expiration date.
Accurately issues labels, product circulars and inserts to production and maintains various label logs as required by FDA and GMP.
Inspects banding mats for correct lot number, expiration date, and material number.
Maintains good label accountability in the label cage and when issuing labels to a production order.
Weigh counts and cycle counts labels to maintain a high degree of inventory accuracy by location.
Cycle counts raw materials to maintain accuracy of raw material inventory.
Reports discrepancies to the Receiving Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Sterilization Operator/Handler)
Practices safe and efficient operation of the Sterilizer and all internal and external conveyors, loading and unloading equipment.
Assists in the establishment and updates of procedures and practices associated with the Sterilizer.
Follows all appropriate Company policies while operating or performing maintenance on the irradiator.
Performs mechanical, electrical and pneumatic installations, modifications, refurbishments, and repairs and preventative maintenance to all department equipment.
Troubleshoots sterilizer and external conveyor to locate malfunctions to ensure minimum of machine downtime.
Communicates with Microbiology on issues pertaining to timer settings, carrier drawings, and cycle traceability.
Maintains compliance with established government and Company safety regulations and emergency procedures.
Performs and maintains all processing records, shippers, Run Sheets, downtime records and dosimetry profiles.
Practices established material handling and storage procedures in pre-sterile, post sterile and Hold areas.
Maximizes the sterilization utilization by operating at the most efficient timer setting and scheduling product in the proper sequence.
Trains newly assigned Sterilization personnel on job functions. Schedules and irradiates special testing in the research loop as required by Microbiology.
Performs any other department functions as necessary to insure maximum machine efficiencies are maintained.
Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Complies with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies/procedures.
Complies with all local BD quality policies/procedures/practices through consistent application of sound Quality Assurance principles.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Observes all safety, environmental and quality system standards.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent, with preferably some technical or college education.
Two to 4 years of experience in the operation of equipment and inventory management is desirable.
