    POSITION DESCRIPTION :
    The Substitute Secretary/Office Assistant provides clerical support to the school office or district department when regular secretary, office assistant, or other clerical staff are absent.

    AVAILABILITY/SCHEDULE :
    • Varies
    • On-call basis but all attempts will be made to schedule in advance, if possible
    • Monday through Friday (August - June)
    • 6 to 7.5 hours per day/per assignment

    LOCATION :
    All Locations (Elementary, Middle School, High School) as Needed

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Related experience or educational background in office/clerical work preferred.
    • Skilled in keyboarding and data entry with speed and accuracy
    • Skilled in the use of computers/word processors and office equipment.
    • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
    • Ability to prioritize and carry out office tasks efficiently.
    • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : Perform a variety of clerical tasks as assigned by the building/department administrator. Provide customer service to students, parents, staff and community by answering telephone calls, greeting and directing visitors, resolving conflicts and disseminating information, etc. Operate a variety of office equipment. Sort and distribute mail (internal and external). Maintain a high level of confidentiality Prepare and/or process various district documents to meet district needs and requirements. Perform data entry, word processing, spreadsheet and database functions as needed. Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities. Perform other clerical support duties as deem necessary and appropriate by the building administrator.
    COMPENSATION: Current hourly rates is $9.87.

    Pursuant to Public Act 68 of 1993 and Public Act 83 of 1995, selected new employees shall submit to fingerprints and a criminal background check at the employee's expense.
