The Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown offers 168 beds for nursing home care. Two levels of care are offered: standard care for veterans in need of any intermediate level of care, and memory care for veterans with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. The home staffs a full time Physician and Certified Nurse Practitioner.
The home opened in 2003, and is located in the scenic countryside of Brown County, offering a tranquil setting where veterans can feel at home. Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction & in reading, writing & speaking common English vocabulary; must be listed on Ohio Nurse Aide Registry & possess certification in CPR
Knowledge of addition/subtraction; departmental, state & federal laws, rules & guidelines pertaining to direct care; first aid*, CPR; human relations; skill in direct care; operating lifts*; wheelchairs*; geri chairs* & electric beds*. Ability to apply principles to solve practical, everyday problems; maintain accurate vital statistic records; recognize unusual client/resident condition & take appropriate action; develop good rapport with clients/residents; demonstrate strength to move, position & lift 50-100 pounds; carry out & follow instructions in simple written & oral form. (*) Developed after employment

- Is registered as a State Tested Nursing Assistant in Ohio
- Provides high-quality patient care

- Providing excellent direct care to our residents (e.g., bathing, grooming, restroom needs, transferring, repositioning & lifting residents, assist with feedings, apply & release restraints)
- Making beds
- Perform routine rounds to ensure residents are safe, clean & comfortable
- Observe & report any changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents or injuries to charge nurse
- Take & record vital statistics (e.g., height, weight, temperature, pulse, respiratory, blood pressure)
- Maintain cleanliness of rooms, equipment & work areas (e.g., geri-chairs, wheelchairs, kitchenettes, utility rooms)
- Assist nursing personnel with admission, discharge & transfer of residents to & from unit (e.g., conduct inventory of resident clothing upon admission & discharge, label resident’s personal items & clothing, etc.)
