As a User Experience Researcher, you will conduct rigorous, independent user research that drives critical business decisions. You will use your mastery of qualitative and quantitative research methods to develop and lead a research program that ensures the Databricks user experience is measurably usable, efficient, and delightful. You will partner with Engineering, Product Management, and Design and report to the Head of User Experience Research.
The impact you will have:
- Design and conduct independent research to understand user needs and behaviors through lab studies, field visits, surveys, interviews, server logs and online experiments.
- Identify actionable insights that drive data-informed product decisions and have impact at every stage of the product cycle.
- Advocate research findings to diverse audiences across the company through written reports and presentations.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, develop long-term research programs that align with strategic business objectives.
- Represent the user and advocate research findings to cross-functional stakeholders, such as Design, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, and Sales.
- Develop educational resources on research best practices that enable non-experts to effectively engage with users.
Required Competencies
- Master's (or higher degree) in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Experimental psychology, Human Factors, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience applying qualitative research methods
- Fluency in core quantitative research or statistical methods
- Ability to clearly communicate research findings in multiple mediums, including reports, presentations, and summaries.
- Experience in translating qualitative data into actionable findings with demonstrable product impact.
- Demonstrated rigor in study design, data collection, and analysis processes.
- Comfortable with ambiguity, moving fast to learn fast, and prioritizing effectively.
- Ability to convey ideas simply and influence people.
Preferred Competencies
- Experience with data structures, relational databases, and/or SQL.
- Experience with at least one programming language (Java, C++, Python, etc.).
- Fluency with core design tools (Adobe products, Figma, etc.)
