STAFF NURSE I/II

The Faculty Practice Group at Montefiore seeks a Staff RN I/II to join our Ambulatory Infusion team to serve our Pediatric, Adult and Geriatric populations. This is a long term temporary position of one year, with possible extension. The RN will insert and/or access PIVs and central lines, deliver and monitor specialized infusion and/or injectable pharmacological treatments which include but are not limited to monoclonal antibody therapies and biotherapies. The infusion nurse is responsible to assess patient prior to treatment, monitor patients for toxicities or infusion related reactions, intervene as required, and accurately document the infusion. The infusion nurse is expected to maintain effective communication with clinical leadership to ensure patient safety and satisfaction. The position may rotate to various sites as needed.

The Montefiore RN maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing’s Social Policy Statement. The Registered Nurse actualizes the vision, mission, values, and balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center.

The RN participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The RN demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served.

Education/skills required:

• New York State License for Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an R.N.
• BSN Degree preferred
• Basic Life Support Training
• Infection Control Training
• Certification in specialty preferred
• Effective English communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience strongly preferred
• IV experience preferred
