Job Description

ERM is seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist/Engineer with limited Site Investigation and Due Diligence experience to support our current and growing project workload in our Cleveland, Ohio office.

This staff person will work within our Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation (LPMR) and Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) practices in Cleveland, OH.

In this role, you will provide project and task management, technical and field assistance on environmental site investigation and due diligence transaction projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in and support the LPMR/M&A practices in the Cleveland, Ohio office with a wide variety of services and projects including but not limited to:
  • Perform environmental site assessment and due diligence projects for industrial and commercial transactions, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments consistent with ASTM standards. Conduct field work, including soil, sediment, ground water, and surface water sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight and soil logging, soil boring and monitoring well installation, well development, purging and sampling, and construction oversight.
  • Task management including; coordinate and direct drilling, surveying, and laboratory services. Conduct, supervise and lead field work, including soil, sediment, groundwater and vapor intrusion sampling.
  • Assist in data interpretation and preparation of site workplans, spreadsheets, figures, and technical reports.
  • Prepare and help implement health and safety requirements on projects.
  • Perform multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers to effectively manage projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science, environmental management or related discipline;
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills; experience writing technical reports.
  • Ability to lead field assessment projects, supervise contractors and field staff.
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Local candidates preferred.
