Position: Sr. Specialist, Systems Engineering (Network Systems Security Engineer)

Location: Plano, TX

Job Summary:

Network Systems Security Engineer designs IT networking systems that meet both Security and Engineering technical requirements, considering hardware, software, networking, power, and security needs.

Major Responsibilities/Activities Statements:

  • Requirements definition for complex IT systems
  • Design multi-site systems to meet IT network, user, security, and regulatory requirements (JSIG, NIST 800 series, and DOD Manuals volume 1-4, etc
  • Develop, track and present technical performance metrics for IT network systems
  • Prepare, develop, and implement automation of system activities wherever feasible
  • Perform risk assessment analysis on HW components and SW packages to support HW and SW requests.
  • Design and analyze appropriate system loading based on requirements
  • Perform cost analysis of required equipment
  • Perform trade studies on a variety of system issues and components
  • Create system backup management, network resiliency, and infrastructure resiliency plans
  • Define the system upgrade plans and make ready for future addition with minimal disturbance
  • Perform root cause analysis of system failures
  • Interface with development teams to determine future growth needs
  • Support the maintenance of the IT systems as needed
  • Present design reviews to relevant stakeholders
  • Participate in proposal activities both cost and technical
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

Required Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a related IT engineering field with some architecture experience
  • Experience creating and implementing IT networks that meet JSIG standards
  • Requirements definition, flow-down and traceability
  • Defense industry experience
  • Working knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF)

Other Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Existing DoD clearance with current 5 year update
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any additional clearances as required

Desired:

  • Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)
  • CompTIA Security +
  • CISSP
  • Experience with encryption communication devices
  • Experience with Cloud computing concepts (Kubernetes and Docker)
  • DEVOPS experience
  • Programming (Python, bash, C++ experience)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.
  • Outstanding work ethic and commitment to organizational success
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
