Sr. Scientist, Biology (Neuro)

The Position

This is a hands-on, laboratory-based position for a Senior Scientist as a key member of drug discovery and development teams.

Responsibilities

• Identify and establish cell-based disease models and assays through hands-on experiments
• Design and execute in vitro and in vivo pharmacology studies to facilitate drug discovery
• Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab and perform critical experiments
• Participate in new target identification and validation
• Present research findings to project teams and governance bodies and prepare study reports
• May mentor/supervise a team of associates and guide the performance of those individuals; is accountable for the effective performance of the team/individuals
• Co-lead or coordinate the activities of a multi-functional drug development team and is responsible for the milestone achievement of the drug development program

Requirements:

• PhD degree with 3+ years postdoctoral research experience in neuroscience
• Proficient with cell-culture and cell-based in vitro assays (e.g. qPCR, immunocytochemistry, Western blots)
• Prior hands-on experience in in vivo pharmacology studies (e.g. mice handling, tissue processing, sample analysis)
• Track-record of high-quality scientific achievement, creativity and problem-solving skills
• Excellent in communication, organizational skills, record keeping and collaboration
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-pace, self-starting matrix organization

Preferred:

• Previous pharmaceutical/biotech experience
• Research experience in neurodegenerative diseases
