Summary/Objective:

The Production Planner is responsible for the effective and consistent coordination of work orders for production to meet customer delivery requirements and stocking levels while considering capacities and seasonality. This includes reviewing and reacting to system planning information, creating and releasing work orders, substituting raw materials, processing change orders and interacting with all internal areas including Production, Sales, Shipping, Purchasing, and Engineering. This position will have direct reports. This position reports to the Materials Manager.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate supply of finished goods, assembled components, and parts to intercompany and distribution centers
  • Schedule requirements and work orders using CURT’s ERP and Demand Planning software tools
  • Work closely with Production Planning and Operations Management to ensure alignment and execution of the production plan
  • Coordinate with other manufacturing facilities and internal cross functional departments concerning requirements and priorities
  • Achieve target customer service levels and inventory turn levels based on forecast error/sales trends, manufacturing capacity/flexibility, and customer service and inventory turn goals.
  • Collaborate and conduct training programs for other users within CURT, for effective use of scheduling systems
  • Coordinate monthly updates for inventory position, turns projections, and build plan adjustments
  • Resolve issues by presenting various alternatives for decisions at monthly S&OP meetings
  • Review new product introductions, and be actively involved in launch processes to ensure our supply chain can support all program requirements
  • Provides daily, weekly, and monthly Schedule Attainment metrics and works cross functionally within the operations team to identify gaps/opportunities and improve performance
  • Participate in meetings, and keep up-to-date on issues related to sales forecast, budget, manufacturing, planning, new product introductions, order fill rates, and other supply chain issues
  • Create an environment for success through good communication and team building
  • Achieve results through the work of others and through influencing and negotiating with others within the organization where formal authority is not held
  • Develop processes to streamline effective flow with a JIT mindset of coordinating materials needed to execute the schedule and maintain timelines.
  • Oversee the procurement of all materials needed to secure schedule attainment.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor Degree Business Management and/or APICS Certification or equivalent related work experience
  • Work Experience: 5+ years related Planning and/or Scheduling experience and fundamental understanding of high and low volume demand planning
  • Computer Skills: Excellent PC skills and the ability to maintain a high level of proficiency with the business software functions related to planning, scheduling, inventory, and sales orders
  • Organization Skills: Excellent organizational, ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed
  • Cross-functional Skills: Ability to work well cross-functionally; engages and builds effective relationships across the organization; provides excellent internal and external customer service

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full time position, expected 40 hours weekly.

Travel:

Travel estimated 5% of the time.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Education: Advanced degree in business management or manufacturing management is strongly preferred; professional certifications and designations are highly desirable
  • Computer Skills: Prior experience working with Demand Planning and ERP software systems
