Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (DS) Human Resources is seeking a Sr. Principal Human Resource Business Partner to provide consultation, subject matter expertise, and partnership to the DS functional groups, located in Mclean, VA.
This role will be the focal point to consult on and assist in the implementation of HR strategy, programs and policies across multiple client groups; including performance management, employee relations, compensation, reward and recognition, succession planning, organization and staff development, leadership/bench strength development, staffing, EEO and other areas within the HR body of knowledge. The Sr. Principal Human Resource Business Partner will achieve results and address challenges, take ownership of projects, demonstrate self-directed learning, and provide and accept continuous feedback in a supportive work environment that offers continued opportunities for growth and development.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate leadership and relationship building skills, a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business. Skillful verbal and written communication talents are required, and the ideal candidate will have prior success building or enhancing a collaborative, supportive and understanding work environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate how they have supported their prior teams through organization, self-motivation and task ownership skills, with the ability to accomplish complex duties in a high-impact, time sensitive environment.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:- Serves as a strategic business partner and consultant to internal customers and stakeholders, including organizational and talent development, performance management, employee relations, compensation and reward and recognition.
- Establishes intimate understanding of the business, build and expand relationships with client leadership teams, and create close partnerships across HR, centers of excellence (COE’s), profit and loss (P&L), engineering, and other functional organizations
- Supports and partners with HR colleagues in operations, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee relations, diversity and inclusion and organizational effectiveness to support talent strategies
- Evolves organizational capability in employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, succession planning and pipeline readiness acceleration, change management, and org design
- Identifies trends, risks, and opportunities within the organization and develop solutions in partnership with division leadership, COEs, and HR business leadership
- Advises leadership on new ideas and winning practices in the areas of talent acquisition, assessment, development, compensation, organizational effectiveness, strategy, on-boarding, change management and communications
- Plays a key change leadership role in the company’s transformation by reinforcing a culture of growth, innovation and calculated risk taking through the application of human capital strategy, tools and processes
- Organizes, prioritizes, plans, schedules, and executes concurrent projects and tasks, escalating issues or obtaining additional resources when necessary
- Supports and enables leaders to make informed decisions about talent and to hold their organizations accountable for business results
This position requires extensive senior leadership contact and the ideal candidate with possess a track record of leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to realize results in an environment of ambiguity. The incumbent must have cross-cultural awareness and communication skills to be able to effectively interact with a geographically disbursed senior leadership team.
Job Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Human Resources Business Partner:
- Must have a high school diploma or a GED with a minimum of 14 plus years in HR or related experience.
- Will also consider:
- Bachelor's degree required plus a minimum of 10 plus years of experience in HR or related field
- Master’s degree required plus a minimum of 8 plus years of experience in HR or related field
- Ability to provide advanced consulting on and skillful application of HR principles, concepts, policies and practices to solve business challenges.
- Ability to analyze data to define the root cause, design practical, creative and/or innovative solutions, and ensure solutions are effectively implemented
- Ability to support the business and HR team with minimal task supervision, utilizing relationships to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and proactively sharing best practices for team learning and growth
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and influence others. Proficient in Microsoft office.
Preferred Qualifications for Sr. Principal Human Resource Business Partner:
- PHR or SPHR certification is preferred
- Working knowledge of HRIS platforms and technology, with preferred applications experience in WorkDay, SAP, and Saba Learning Exchange (LX).
- Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to be flexible and adjust direction when needed.
- Leadership consulting experience, coaching skills and knowledge of human and adult learning principles a plus.
- Experience in proactive HR assessment and diagnosis of business challenges and ability to craft effective solutions.
- Ability to navigate cultural and business nuances/sensitivities to promote top performance, employee engagement and inclusion.
Salary Range: 103900 - 155900
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
