POSITION PURPOSE:

The Senior Manager of Operations is a member of the L3Harris Orlando Leadership Team. This person will be responsible for leading (solid line) Manufacturing, EHS, Continuous Improvement, Production Planning and Control and Material Logistics (e.g. Stockroom, Shipping/Receiving, Transportation, etc.); along with dotted line responsibility for Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Supply Chain. Emphasis will be placed on streamlining existing processes, improving efficiencies, and collaboratively working with the executive team on the strategy of the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

  • Direct all functions of operations across the facility to ensure supply of products at the highest level of quality
  • Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement programs
  • Develop, coordinate, lead, and execute operational plans in the achievement of company goals, including driving compliance to business requirements.
    • Estimates Operations personnel needs; schedules work to meet completion dates
    • Responsible for providing labor, services and schedule estimates to support proposals.
    • Responsible for the recruiting and hiring the appropriate mix of talent to staff programs and projects. This is done with the assistance of Human Resources.
  • Manage production volumes, costs, quality and yields to ensure targets are met and improvements are made throughout the value-stream
  • Monitor the safety and environmental programs and identify improvement opportunities to ensure an injury free work environment
  • Lead, coach and develop managers and staff. Implement performance management with managers and staff to set goals and objectives, provide performance feedback, and develop skills and talent. Attract new talent to organization as needed. Supervise, motivate, and develop managers and other high potential employees in operations
  • Work with managers to create and execute annual capital expenditure plan to maintain the integrity of the facility and make necessary improvements to grow the business
  • Oversee all major strategic projects to ensure targets are met
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve the competitive position of the organization
  • Collaborate with others on the business team to develop long range plans for plant assets that are consistent with business goals
  • Provide leadership for business expansion working closely with other leadership team members
  • Responsible for managing technical professionals and required support staff to successfully achieve Company and Customer objectives on time and within budget.
  • Coordinates with other departments and other disciplines as required meeting objectives.
  • Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of Operations project(s) within area of assigned responsibility.
  • Works closely with Business Development as required on new product development.
  • Typically interfaces across product lines to develop broad strategies for product development and manufacturing start-up
  • Develops reports and maintains key process indicators and Operations department metrics.
  • Prepares departmental budgets; establishes procedures for evaluating equipment performance and recommends improvement for new and existing products.
  • Responsible for production integrity of customer deliverable product
  • Responsible for identifying training needs and developing training plans for the people within the organization.
  • Maintains and supports a safe product and work environment.
  • Champion continuous improvement
  • Maintain Company culture.
  • Other assignments as required

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage Operations department and all the subordinates within that department

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Engineering, Production or other technical field, from an accredited university or college and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing management experience in the analysis, design, and implementation of complex products such as optical/Laser systems.
  • Must have well-developed business acumen and be able to balance a strategic focus.
  • Must possess a strong process orientation and a track record of reducing costs, improving productivity, and streamlining operations to achieve significant financial improvements.
  • Must have strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must have strong communication and relationship building skills at all levels of an organization and the ability to work effectively across functions within a matrix environment.
  • Must have an innate desire to learn and continually improve.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • United States citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Able to work weekends, and evenings as required meeting company objectives
  • Able to travel periodically to support product/customer needs including international travel.
  • Previous Aerospace/Defense industry experience desired.
