THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Senior Industry Strategist for Public Sector will lead vertical industry marketing activities related to the entire OpenText information management portfolio for this target market. The role will focus on strengthening OpenText brand and solution share in the industry, driving pipeline opportunities through marketing campaigns and sales enablement, and increasing market share through strategic customer and opportunity support. The ideal candidate will play a lead role in developing messaging on how OpenText is uniquely positioned to solve some of the most complex problems faced by the Public Sector industry and understand the value proposition of our solutions. This role will work closely with other functional areas such as Product Marketing, Field Marketing, Sales, and Product Management.
Decisions and recommendations will have broad impact on current and future direction for the target market. The position will be global in scope, and will direct and support marketing and sales activities for customers in key regions across the global, including North America, Europe and Asia-PAC. The role will report to the Sr. Director, Industry Marketing.
YOU ARE GREAT AT:
Developing and executing the go-to-market strategy for OpenText in the Public Sector vertical focusing on marketing plans- Serve as the internal authority on the Public Sector vertical which requires a solid understanding of the key industry business processes, terminology, personas, standards, regulatory requirements, and challenges that are key for OpenText.
- Be the external spokesperson for our Public Sector business and help to evangelize both OpenText and OpenText solutions across our global network of PR agencies around the world.
- Keep up to date with latest industry trends across the world and how they apply to our vertical solutions and how they could impact our global customer base.
- Understand how new disruptive digital technologies impact processes in the Public Sector and how OpenText Information Management solutions can embrace these moving forward. Monitor competitive landscape and be able to articulate our differentiators.
- Develop and guide messaging through all internal and external communication channels for example: sales enablement, customer-facing collateral, web presence, partner communication, industry analysts, targeted conferences, industry events and through social media and online communities.
- Identify ‘white space’ in OpenText ability to deliver a complete solution and recommend partners to fill that space
WHAT IT TAKES:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science or Marketing, or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 12 years of marketing experience in the technology setting; Industry Marketing, Product Marketing, and/or Field Marketing experience is an asset
- Strong competencies and expertise in the Public Sector vertical, as well as experience with G2C, G2G, G2B.
- The ideal candidate has worked within the sector and/or have extensive experience selling or marketing to one or more of the following segments: Federal, Regional, Local Government, Defense & Intelligence.
- International government as well as United States Public Sector understanding is critical
- Must possess a highly specialized level business and technical acumen (including enterprise software markets, solutions and competitive landscape) in one or more of the following domains:
- Content Services
- Digital Process Automation
- AI and Analytics
- eDiscovery
- Information Security
- Supply Chain Network
- Customer Experience Management
- Knowledge of developing cloud-based solution messaging and market positioning.
- Effective and proven program and project management skills, ability to lead cross-functional teams of peers.
- Ability to think and communicate strategically with a variety and all levels of audiences, both technical and non-technical.
- Strong market research, analysis, and business development skills.
- Ability to “sell” your vision and action plan in a way that ensures others’ buy-in.
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to effectively interact with people who have differing work styles from your own.
- The ability to capably manage multiple concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, set appropriate goals and prioritize, and communicate upwardly as appropriate.
- Proficiency in social media to drive industry messaging and points of view.
- Formulating and articulating original thought leadership content via tactics such as blogs, whitepapers and press interviews.
- Strong presentation skills/ experience presenting at industry conferences, CXO events and strategic customer meetings.
