Job Description
Summary
As part of Personalis' IT team you will support the HPC infrastructure both on-prem, in our server room and colocation data center, as well as in the cloud. Day-to-Day operations will include supporting end-users with issues using the cluster, optimizing batch job submissions, getting a full understanding of workflows and pipelines, and finding how best to optimize. You will also manage vendor relationships as it pertains to hardware, cloud, and managed support services.
Responsibilities
- Specifying, procuring, installing, monitoring, maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading HPC compute and GPU nodes, high performance cluster storage, and cluster-related network equipment associated with the HPC environment.
- Ensure 24/7 operation of highly available customer-facing and internal server environments at multiple data centers
- Working with clustered computing systems including clustered and parallel file systems.
- Proven ability to design, install, and maintain large scale Linux compute clusters and commercial supercomputing systems
- Provide primary support/escalation point for critical outages and issues in relation to data storage for our primary data centers.
- Implement complex projects and time-sensitive tasks under minimal supervision.
Requirements
- Proven ability to design, install, and maintain large scale Linux compute clusters and commercial supercomputing systems
- Strong customer service skills, teaming skills, and the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team
- Broad based technical knowledge spanning all areas of IT operations and service delivery
- Extensive experience with CentOS, VMware, Ansible, batch queue processing
- Thorough understanding of NFS, Samba, file systems and volumes, experience with Dell EMC Isilon is a plus
- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Perl, BASH, python, etc.)
- Can lift over 50lbs
- Bachelor in Computer Science, equivalent degree or extensive experience
- 10 to 15 years experience in Linux system administration
