Scope:
The Driver – CDL will aid in daily operations between both the Plant and Distribution Center including off-site pickups and deliveries.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Fully understand how to operate and safely drive day cab trucks with 53’ trailers and back into docks
- Follow instructions; locate and read location and road maps
- Pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment/truck and trailer
- Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed safely
- Team communication is very important must have cell phone with MMS. HANDS FREE while driving
- Responsible for basic vehicle inspection
- Comply with all safe work practices, policies, and processes for Heartland Food Products Group and DOT regulations at all times.
- Complete and verify paperwork for accuracy Pre-trips, BOLs, Logs ,etc. .
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- 3+ years Commercial driving experience
- Valid and up to date Class A CDL
- Willing to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
- Pass DOT background check
- At least 6 months of OTR experience
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent schooling
- Must have ability to understand oral and written instructions in English
- Must work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills
- Must have the ability to work extended hours
- Ability to effectively use maps and directions for efficient routing
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend
- Must possess visual acuity to document company records
- Must be able to work safely in environment with inclement weather
- Lifting up to 50 pounds
