Job Description
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Journalism, Communications or a related field.
  • 7+ years of communications or marketing experience, preferably at a high-growth, technology company.
AWS Infrastructure Supply Chain Management (SCM) systems are at the heart of ensuring that we can provide our customers with the right computing services, in the right place, at the right time. The SCM Automation team is responsible for all aspects of supply chain management including all inventory planning, asset tracking, warehouse management, and vendor and catalog management. With this breadth of automation control, we are able to make quick decisions to improve the quality of our supply chain.

We are seeking an experienced, customer-obsessed, internal communications manager to help us tell our story. In this role, you will be responsible for building and driving communication plans that achieve internal communication objectives and reach a wide variety of internal audiences in AWS Infrastructure and more broadly within AWS. You will also leverage internal communication channels and resources to amplify information and updates about our business broadly within AWS, driving awareness and engagement. You have excellent writing, editing, and communications skills, and the ability to work backwards from an internal customer to put forward a professional, clear, consistent message in the appropriate communication channels (e.g., blogs, videos, newsletters, email, wikis) based on target audience(s). The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer, creative marketer, a relationship builder, and a big thinker who can develop a holistic strategy and also roll up their sleeves to get things done.

The ideal candidate will insist on the highest standards, dive deep into details, have a strong bias for action and sense of ownership, distill information to find common threads between projects, and be energized by juggling priorities. They’ll keep composure in fast-moving situations, embrace ambiguity and changing tides, be able to quickly get up to speed on complex issues, anticipate employee questions/reactions, and quickly prepare thorough messaging strategies.This role requires exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work backwards from sometimes ambiguous requirements to generate clear, concise communications. The right candidate is part coach, part advocate, and all communications expert.

This is an exciting opportunity for an expert Communications Generalist.

RESPONSIBILITES
  • Define and manage the strategy and execution of communications that amplify AWS Infrastructure Supply Chain Automation initiatives to internal audiences.
  • Work cross-functionally and across geographies with internal stakeholders at all levels to define key themes, messages, objectives to drive awareness, engagement, and adoption of programs and initiatives.
  • Write compelling and effective content for a variety of audiences and channels including (but not limited to) blogs, newsletters, videos, presentations, virtual events, and announcements.
  • Write messaging and content for executive speaking, presentations, and other leadership communications that reach global internal audiences.
  • Contribute to building toolkits, templates, and training to promote self-service and communication best practices across the organization.
  • Employ innovative marketing and communications tactics that expand program visibility, and motivate internal audiences to take action.
  • Track and report metrics on effectiveness of content and messages to internal stakeholders, as well as continually monitor, analyze, and tune messaging to maximize conversion.
  • Manage multiple priorities as an independent, self-starter with excellent time management within a rapidly evolving business.
  • Serve as program lead to ensure opportunities to communicate (All Hands, event presentations, video, email etc.) are bar raising in both content and delivery.
  • Experience in a business-to-business (B2B) environment; IT/technology marketing experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and highly cross-functional organization.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to articulate a clear point of view on complicated issues in clear, concise communications.
  • Demonstrated experience building trust and influencing cross-functional teams and senior leaders.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where tactical and strategic activities are expected to be driven in parallel.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and implement ideas from ideation and development to measurement and evaluation.
  • Ability to exercise high judgment, particularly in narrow time-frames.
  • An agile, flexible individual with a “can-do”, problem-solving attitude and approach to managing ambiguity in a fast-evolving environment.
  • A curious self-starter with a proven track record of diving into unknown territory and learning new concepts.
