Job Description

The Sr. CNC Programmer is responsible for creating and improving CNC programs for both bearing and seal manufacturing product lines. Products typically start in steel bar stock form. The position requires knowledge in horizontal/vertical Milling, Turning, and multi-axis combination programming for modern machining equipment. This is a great opportunity to work in a cross-functional engineering environment while collaborating with manufacturing/design/development and quality engineers to significantly impact Rexnord’s ability to improve areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost. This position is reporting to the Center of Excellence Manager.

Key Accountabilities

  • Write programs that will machine complex geometry to very close tolerances on multi-axis machining centers (CNC 4-5 axis lathes, vertical/ horizontal/multi-axis machines)
  • Develop most efficient/reliable manufacturing process for best material removal
  • Efficiently use of Macro, sub and variable programming
  • Evaluate new tools for machining improvements
  • Analyze program and tooling-related problems, which cause downtime or otherwise limit productive capacity of equipment
  • Troubleshoots issues with DNC system (communication between machines and servers).
  • Assist in Tooling Design, special machinery and/or equipment required for production
  • Maintain/Update files of tool drawings, catalogs, magazines, technical information
  • Investigate production machining related issues requiring engineering assistance
  • Work in cooperation and coordination with the Engineering and Production departments concerning new product developments or changes contemplated in existing products.
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to manufacturing and design engineers, and vendors.
  • Capable of performing basic functions of CNC setup person.


Qualifications
  • This position requires the applicant to be a US Person with a US permanent residence. A US Person is a US Citizen or Green card holder
  • BS in a technical field desired or 5+ years of manufacturing or industrial technical field, programming CNC equipment is required;
  • Must have experience in Mastercam CAM or Esprit software.
  • Experience in Solid Works and 3D Modeling.
  • Excellent computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.)
  • Precision OD and ID machining (and grinding) experience is desirable
  • Skilled in- G and M code editing, Macro style programming, multi axis function(s) and Fanuc/Okuma/Mazak controllers
  • Team orientated with the ability to influence others without authority
  • Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt a plus.
