The Speech Pathologist functions as a member of the healthcare team. The Speech-Language Pathologist provides medically prescribed therapy programs with limited supervision in accordance with national standards and administrative guidelines of the hospital.
- Evaluation of patient performance and progress
- Treatment of patients
- Communication of evaluation and treatment results
- Documentation of evaluation and treatment results
- Reading of patient and professional related materials
- Presentations to staff and program development as assigned
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
- Kansas state license and possess CCC or be eligible for Clinical Fellowship.
- BLS required upon hire.
- A minimum of successful completion of clinical internships and eligibility for Clinical Fellowship is required.
- Prior one year hospital/health related experience is preferred with experience in evaluation of swallowing with sensory testing, performing perceptual and acoustic analyses of voice function.
Special Skills Required:- must possess knowledge of the principles and practice of Speech-Language Pathology and have the ability to apply them in therapeutic treatment programs
- ability to create clear and concise written and oral reports
- understand and abide by the established code of ethics for the practice of Speech-Language Pathology
- ability to maintain patient and facility confidentiality
- must meet competency standards for appropriate procedures
- responsible for high degree of accuracy, judgment, problem solving and cognitive reasoning
- discretion and integrity with regard to confidential information
- good verbal and written communication skills
- ability to work independently.
