Job Description

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs all duties related to the timely and efficient billing and collection of receivables within the parameters established by company policies and state imposed billing requirements, and as necessary to achieve reasonable collection goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Ensures receipt and validity of all documents needed for billing in order to prepare and submit all billing, and claim adjustments
  • Submit all claims and adjustments
  • As directed identifies and documents payment discrepancies and takes appropriate action to resolve balance, including preparation of a/r adjustments or write-offs
  • With general oversight identify, research, and resolve credit balances according to policy
  • Maintain tickler system to ensure timely follow-up on unpaid claims
  • Verifies eligibility to ensure timely claims filing
  • Properly communicate issues and updates to interested parties
  • As directed, participate in a/r reviews as requested

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years accounts receivable or billing experience
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & BEHAVIORS

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) and ability to learn company or customer systems
  • General knowledge of appropriate payor plans and associated billing rules
  • Ability to manage, analyze, and reconcile billing and payment detail
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet changing deadlines, and maintain orderly files
  • Good written, verbal, telephone communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Familiar with operating a 10-key calculator
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient, employee and company proprietary information
  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and other employees at all levels

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

Mobility, reaching, bending, lifting (minimum of 10 pounds), fine hand coordination, ability to read and write, the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions, ability to travel, and ability to remain calm under pressure.
