Principal Responsibilities
This role involves coordination of activities that span geographic areas and programs. Key responsibilities include:
- Work with Director to ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
- Write and edit content for a variety of internal communications mediums (especially LISC intranet Jostle).
- Draft messages or scripts for senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form.
- Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization.
- Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages.
- Track internal and external activity across the LISC family of companies in order to craft necessary communications.
- Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.
- Analyze and summarize data from company-wide employee engagement surveys.
- Support the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect organizational perception and reputation.
- Provide administrative support to the Rubinger Community Fellowship national program.
- Produce annual and semi-annual reports, national and local LISC programs, such as LISC annual report and reports to funders;
- Coordinate and participate in site visits across LISC local office network to support internal communications initiatives, support Rubinger Fellows, or other special projects as they arise;
- Support Director in managing special projects and programs as directed by the CEO.
- Performs additional duties, as required.
Qualifications
This job involves extensive interaction with representatives of a wide variety of corporate and private philanthropies, evaluators, community representatives, LISC staff and other institutional partners. It also entails significant planning, coordination, writing and editing assignments. Therefore, demonstrated interpersonal, writing, editing and organizational skills are critical. Other qualifications include:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years relevant work experience in communications, public relations or program management is preferred.
- Digital skills: Familiarity with information technology, especially digital and video means of communication, is essential.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from employees.
- Experience devising effective communication strategies.
- Experience in community development is a plus
- Sensitivity to an organization’s goals and values and the ability to relay information to employees’ effectively.
- Good interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Work simultaneously on a wide variety of tasks and projects, and set priorities for a challenging workload.
- Collaborate effectively with a wide range of LISC managers and staff.
