Elmhurst Hospital Center (EHC) is the major tertiary care provider in the borough of Queens. The hospital is comprised of 545 beds and is a Level I Trauma Center, an Emergency Heart Care Station and a 911 Receiving Hospital. It is the premiere health care organization for key areas such as Surgery, Cardiology, Women's Health, Pediatrics, Rehabilitation Medicine, Renal and Mental Health Services.
Job DescriptionPurpose of Position: Under general supervision of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), participates in the formulation, development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of plans, policies and methods and procedures directed towards the improvement and transition of the Hospital. Resolves special administrative problems pertaining to policy and practice in program planning, operation, analysis, implementation and evaluation within the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilties:
1. Conducts evaluations of proposed Hospital programs encompassing the gathering of pertinent data, identification and analysis of problems and the proposal of feasible solutions within the context of Health System goals.
2. Participates in developing, establishing, implementing and recommending policies, practices, methods and procedures and programs designed to improve operations within the major functional areas through research and statistical application, developing administrative controls and reporting systems, and the application of related techniques and methods.
3. Plans, establishes and integrates strategic initatives of the Health System within Elmhurst Hospital in conjunction with facility executives and Central Office staff.
4. Conducts and participates in meetings, hearings and conferences as a representative of the CEO.
5. Provides assistance in developing various reports and studies pertaining to a broad scope of functions including reorganizations, personnel reassignments, and determining means of expediting potential programs while improving current operations.
6. Serves as Project Director or Program Coordinator in planning, developing and coordinating departmental projects and programs.
7. Serves as a liaison between Central Office, various governmental agencies and community organizations and the appropriate divisions of the Hospital as necessitated by the planning and development of specific programs.
8. Develops and maintains viable operational procedures within the facility and optimal operational support for Hospital initatives.
9. Prepares reports, speeches and press releases within the context of Hospital objectives.
10. Performs all other duties as assigned by the CEO or designee.
Minimum Qualifications1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university, and three (3) years experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, business administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or an appropriate functional discipline with emphasis on planning, liaison and interorganizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or,
2. A Master's degree in hospital administration, health care planning, business administration, public administration or an approved related program, and two (2) years of experience in health and medical service administration, public administration, business administration, personnel and labor relations, finance or an appropriate functional discipline with emphasis on planning, liaison and interorganizational relationships, or related administrative or managerial functions; or,
3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.
