Sorter - Mailing

Reads work order or follows verbal instructions to ascertain materials to be processed. May feed, remove, flex, jog, and stack printed sheets, folded signatures, labels or other in-process product to and from the equipment in the area assigned. Load and unloads materials onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, electric dolly, or other device. Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled. Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on containers.

Basic knowledge of general manufacturing layout, item identification codes, basic knowledge of manufacturing procedures and familiarity with the storage areas in order to be able to place or pull product in accordance with standard procedures. Able to complete appropriate forms relating to description, quantity, unit of issue, and the labeling requirements for incoming and outgoing materials.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times. Ensure that all mail is handled per postal rules and regulations.

Must be able to distinguish between colors and inspect product for quality.

Standing and stooping for extended periods of time. Occasional bending and twisting.

Must have good hand/eye coordination and physical dexterity to process product and meet production standards.

Ability to work in a team environment required.

Job requires ability to exert 20 to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects with or without an accommodation.

Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed.

1+ year experience in a fast paced, quality driven manufacturing environment. Previous experience in a mailing-related function preferred.
