Job Description
NMC Solutions is where many of the most elegant, intuitive, and cutting-edge digital tools are built at Expeditors. When transnational customers, or one of our global district offices, engages the NMC, they ask a variety of questions, but at the heart of most questions is this: How can I see my data in ways that are accessible, clean, and that will help me do better business?
NMC Solutions is the place where creativity meets applicability, and where we build tools that speak to that core question. We build digital tools that are beautiful, and that make a difference. NMC Solutions is the customer-facing side of this organization, and what we build becomes the stamp of excellence that we maintain day in and day out. Our work serves our customers, and attracts others to be a part of our vision.
The role of a Solution Designer focuses on the design and curation of digital tools that do things such as:
- Allow customers to make prognostic decisions about how best to move their inventory through our network by using the best data available;
- Provide top-to-bottom visualizations of how a customer’s suppliers, shippers, and carriers are meeting their shipping needs;
This person will work directly under the guidance of the Solutions Manager, and will interface daily with NMC leadership and Network Developers (ED&A). The successful candidate will first gain on-the-job knowledge of the industry and the kinds of data presentations we provide. This person will then work closely with the Solutions Manager and ED&A to design tools where design and customer accessibility are paramount.
The ideal candidate will be prepared to collaborate on multiple project at once, beginning work from the moment of ideation through to final publication. This person will be creative, detail-oriented, and will stay mindful of customer needs and validate design plans with relevant stakeholders. Regular, thoughtful, and professional communication with members of the team and project will be essential.
