About Amazon HealthLake -

Amazon HealthLake is a HIPAA-eligible service that enables healthcare providers, health insurance companies, and pharmaceutical companies to store, transform, query, and analyze health data at petabyte scale.
Health data is frequently incomplete and inconsistent, and is often unstructured, with information contained in clinical notes, laboratory reports, insurance claims, medical images, recorded conversations, and time-series data (for example, heart ECG or brain EEG traces). This makes it difficult to take action on the data. Every health care provider, payer, and life sciences company needs to solve the problem of structuring the data to make better patient support decisions, design better clinical trials, and operate more efficiently.

Amazon HealthLake enables healthcare providers to store, transform, query, and analyze data in the AWS Cloud. Through integrated medical natural language processing (NLP), Amazon HealthLake users can analyze unstructured clinical text from diverse sources to gain medical insights. Amazon HealthLake performs much of the work of organizing, indexing, and structuring patient information, to provide a complete view of each patient’s medical history in a more secure, compliant, and auditable manner. It transforms unstructured data using specialized machine learning models, like natural language processing models, and provides powerful query and search capabilities.
