Join our team and help make a difference!Overview: The Social Work Supervisor provides operating support to the Chelsea Foyer Program Director, will ensure effective and efficient clinical services to the residents of the Foyer (an innovative 40-bed residential and vocational program for young adults who are preparing to transition into independent living) and insure the integration of social services into the total program. Social service delivery is to be consistent with the philosophy and mission of Good Shepherd Services, the function and task of the programs and in compliance with City and State mandates.

Major Duties
:
  • Assist Program Director with overall administration and supervision of Foyer program and assume overall leadership, with the RHY Coordinator, in the absence of the Program Director.
  • Work in conjunction with Program Director to insure close communication and collaboration between all program staff.
  • Meet regularly with Program Director to ensure overall effectiveness, integration, and integrity of the program. Participate with Program Director in periodic assessment of program for purposes of planning and development.
  • In collaboration with Program Director and case managers, insure effective intake process and maintenance of census. Collaborate closely with them around intake decisions.
  • Provide bi-weekly individual supervision of case managers and per diem ILC staff.
  • Provide monthly group supervision of case managers, or more frequently where indicated.
  • Transmit to all case management staff agency directives and contractual mandates. Insure that such directives and regulations are being met.
  • Responsible for ensuring documentation in the ETO (Efforts to Outcomes) database, other city databases, as well as in the case records meet the expectations of government funding sources.
  • Oversee and monitor the development and implementation of the residents individualized action plans and goals, maintenance of case records, and appropriate statistics.
  • Facilitate residents’ monthly interdisciplinary conference with program staff to ensure the residents’ goals are being achieved.
  • Insure that residents are meeting the expectations of their contract and are in compliance with program policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the diffusion of potential crises situations and take appropriate action in resolving crises.
  • Assist young people in developing family or any other permanent connection with caring adults.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled program fire drills. This requires having to climb five flights of stairs to ensure the evacuation of all 40 units and shared spaces.
  • While on shift alone, or with other staff, be able to work through emergencies, which place the participants and other staff members at risk. Such emergencies include but are not limited to fires, gas leaks, earthquakes, power loss, city wide emergencies, etc. This work includes communicating with security, staff and residents what the emergency is and what actions need to be taken. Evacuating all 5 residential floors (40 units total) including the shared spaces on the main floor and the cellar. Assisting security with identifying that all participants and staff have been evacuated to the proper emergency meeting points.
  • Manager on Duty (MOD) coverage as necessary.
  • Participate in GSS program related meetings and external meetings as appropriate.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and, when necessary, termination of program staff.
  • Assess and identify in service training needs of program staff and where appropriate, serve as a resource person in providing training.
  • Represent the program and agency in external meetings that would provide resources and opportunities to network with other providers.
  • Lead the implementation of the Sanctuary Model of trauma-informed practice within the department/program.
  • Review resident TSI -Trauma Service Inventory assessment with a clinical lens.
  • Encourage and advance the use of the Sanctuary Model tools: safety plans, community meetings, psycho-educational groups, team meetings, red flag reviews, treatment planning conferences (or similar), and self-care in the department/program to create a non-violent and trauma-sensitive culture.
  • Promote and model the seven Sanctuary Model commitments to create a non-violent and trauma-sensitive culture.
  • Integrate the Sanctuary Model SELF (Safety, Emotional Management, Loss and Future) framework into daily practice to ensure quality care and an effective work environment.
  • Utilize Sanctuary Model principals in the supervisory practice.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree required, LMSW or LMHC preferred
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience preferred
  • Two years of successful experience providing residential services to at-risk youth (including LGBTQ) in areas of assessments, individual and group counseling and development and implementation of ISPs.
  • Must have a clear understanding of the needs of young adults experiencing homelessness and a sensitivity to ethnic and cultural differences, and an understanding of the needs of the LGBTQ community.
  • History of successful collaboration with other community based agencies and organizations to enhance services for vulnerable youth.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to maintain required documentation.
  • Excellent crisis intervention, advocacy and problem solving skills.
  • Flexible hours to insure access and availability
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based, youth and family development and trauma-informed perspective.
  • Must be able to provide first aid.
