The Archdiocese of Baltimore and Catholic Review Media seek a Social Media Specialist (SMS) who can bring enthusiasm and passion to nurturing and growing our online community and helping to be the voice of our brands. In this role, you will be an integral part in developing the branding and voice of the Archdiocese of Baltimore and its publishing arm, Catholic Review Media, through social media platforms including (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn. The SMS will engage our online and social media audiences as well as build and maintain relationships with key influencers. As part of the Archdiocese of Baltimore’s social media strategy, the SMS will track and provide reports regarding social media impact and growth.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Use social media to connect our audience to content and engage in conversation
  • Moderate forums and chats; initiate conversations as appropriate
  • Cover live events via social media, using appropriate platforms
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key social media audiences, i.e. bloggers, influencers, online media
  • Implement initiatives that grow audience; track and report results and ROI
  • Assist Web editor in uploading content
  • Conduct interviews and produce online articles as needed
  • Manage content for all social media platforms of Catholic Review Media and Archdiocese of Baltimore and oversee secondary social media accounts associated with AOB

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a passion for social media and a track record for innovation and creative thinking. A bachelor's degree and experience with social media analytics are a must. Two years+ of journalism and/or communications experience, knowledge of the Baltimore area and the Catholic Church preferred. Must be flexible. This position will involve working some nights and weekends to meet our seven-day delivery schedule. (night and weekend work can be done remotely)
