Job Description

The university Social Media Manager is primarily responsible for supporting the university?s overall mission by developing the strategy for and implementation of App State?s social media presence. The social media manager will build brand awareness, cultivate interaction, engagement and discussion around the organization, its strategic initiatives, and future enrollment by creating social media content, providing strategic guidance to department-level social media content creators, responding to inquiries and interacting with audiences and developing short- and long-term social media and digital content strategies and tactics.The role requires professional-level grammar and creative writing skills; ingenuity; proactivity; organizational sensitivity; exceptional interpersonal communication skills; experience building and managing content calendars; a strong understanding of the existing and evolving digital media landscape; and an ability to engage and interact with diverse online communities of prospective and current students, alumni, parents and other campus constituents. The candidate must have up-to-date knowledge of social media best practices, emerging platforms and technology, brand strategies and marketing trends. Strong consideration will be given to candidates who also have a demonstrated understanding of the role of social media in critical/crisis communications.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor?s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
