Job Description
Position and Scope:
The DuPont Sorona® business is seeking a designer that is proficient in mechanical design and familiarity with electrical and civil design. This person will provide hand-on mechanical drafting support, maintain the site electronic and paper drawing documentation, and update drawings across all disciplines to support “as built” and management of change at the site.
Responsibilities:
- Develop construction ready piping and mechanical drawings for small capital improvements at the site.
- Update electrical, mechanical, and civil drawings in the site system based on walkdowns and/or submissions from the areas.
- Validate existing piping and P&ID drawings with installed equipment.
- Maintain the integrity of the site drawing system including paper, electronic, and in some cases microfilm copies.
- Maintain accurate and complete project records; document progress in detailed reports which indicate audit, verification, and validation of processes and designs.
- Work in an environment that expects you to prioritize safety
- Participate on, or lead corrective action teams, as necessary to resolve design issues by performing root cause analysis and problem resolution related to assigned design responsibilities.
- Provide input to project schedules, timelines and resource requirements for completion of design work
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in drafting/design/engineering technology preferred.
- 3-5 years of design experience
- Proficiency in process and instrumentation drawings, piping schematics
- Familiarity with electrical schematics, logic diagrams, civil, structural, and architectural drawings.
- Microstation proficiency
- Windows, Adobe proficiency, Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point, as a minimum.
- Ability to set up and maintain a file structure for engineering documentation
- Knowledge of engineering standards in drawing practice, dimensioning and metrology tolerances, drawing symbols, welding practice, etc.
- Familiarity with standard engineering concepts, practices, and procedures with machines and other manufacturing shop machinery.
