Job Description

Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter
Certification/License: BEI Advanced/Master or National Certification
Reports To: Office Manager & President
Salary: Salary/bonus commensurate with qualifications, experience, and employment duration

Location: Virtual or Indianapolis, IN Metro Area [Travel within and outside of the area may occur]
Job Class: Contract; or Part-Time Non-Exempt
Schedule: Core Hours are Monday – Friday, 8a-5p (Hours may vary based on customer needs, with occasional nights/weekends as needed to support the mission)

Job Summary: MT&A is a small woman owned business who prides themselves on providing all consumers a unique positive service experience. Sign language interpreting is our primary service; however at the heart of what we do we are human service providers. Our firm is built on the feedback from our Associate based team; therefore, idea creation, execution, teamwork, communication, fun, and enthusiasm are a must. Duties may include interpreting as needed; as well as interacting with customers to intake new interpreting requests, schedule assignments, answer questions, solve concerns, support contractors, manage/delegate tasks, and participate in special projects. This candidate shall have problem solving skills specifically in interpreting scenarios and be able work as a team to provide high level customer service to all. Candidates must be fun, positive, organized, a self-starter, and have great attention to detail.

Lastly, in collaboration with the MT&A team, be able to adapt and promote the vision and values of the organization through customer service, advocacy, and service quality.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interpret assignment as needed to ensure coverage of unfilled assignments
  • Participation in strategic planning meetings/training/special projects
  • Provide support and maintain high quality customer service to interpreters and customers
  • Prepare, distribute reports and maintain organized records
  • Conduct special projects and tasks meet the mission
  • Follow general and security procedures
  • 100% quality control and attention to detail
  • Ability to work onsite, remotely, and in the field (on the go)
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
  • Professional Sign Language Interpreter: BEI Advanced or Master and/or National Certification
  • Demonstrated skills in customer service interactions
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (Word, Excel)
  • Highly organized and disciplined, including ability to prioritize well and maintain productivity with minimal oversight
  • Trustworthy with proprietary company information and government security protocols, keeping such information in strict confidence

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour
