Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The following is a general description of the essential duties and responsibilities

of the:

Shipping Clerk

Responsible for inventory controls, checks all paperwork for accuracy locates and tags coils. Additionally, locates, stages, checks loading instruction and ships completed orders per customer specifications, complete all paperwork for drivers, order trucks and escort trucks through the entrance gate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following are essential duties and responsibilities that must be successfully demonstrated on a daily basis in order to successfully perform on the position of:

Shipping Clerk

·

Locates and distributes material to given location.

·

Verifies loading specifics and checks for proper packaging.

·

Checks trailer condition to ensure safety polices and procedures are followed.

·

Communicates with truck driver on loading instructions and distribution of weight as per NPS guidelines.

·

Loads truck using crane or forklift.

·

Verifies final truckload checklist and returns paperwork to truck driver.

·

Performs sorting of material and repackaging.

·

Performs regular safety checks on lifting equipment.

·

Logs and files daily truck loads

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Cont.)

·

Operates overhead door

·

Directs traffic in and out of the plant

·

Accountable for inventory control

·

Observes operation of machines and reports any problems requiring corrective or preventative maintenance

·

Observe work area used by Receiving production crew and assist in maintaining good housekeeping in the area.

·

Other duties as assigned by management.

·

The Shipping Clerk may be required to assist in the training of new Shipping Clerk or other positions related to the operation of the Delivery Department.

·

Mistakes or errors of job performance can be costly to the company and the impact on customer satisfaction is significant.

Knowledge of freight rates and trucking company contacts preferred.

Knowledge of location of warehouse and commercial departments

Ability to read and understand Bar Mics

·

Ability to operate a forklift (In-house Forklift Certification may be required)

·

Ability to read and understand Inventory tags

·

Read Shipping and receiving related equipment operating manuals

·

Understand and use NPS production related computer applications

·

Ability to operate various small operating equipment

Six to nine months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

·

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate and percent.

REASONING ABILITY
