You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco team members to deliver high technology performed onboard U.S. Naval Ships and military installations.
As the Shipboard Manager, you will manage a team of installers who are responsible for installing, servicing, and repairing structures and major components on US Navy Ships.You will be responsible for scheduling and overseeing the installation of products. You will ensure adherence to contract specifications and established policies and procedures while applying appropriate safety techniques of the work performed onboard ships.
You will play a critical role in ensuring that successful and safe work is performed onboard our United States Navy Ships which is vital to our Mission to Protect and Serve our Military.
As the, Manager, you will perform the following typical tasks:
- Responsible for managing fabrication and assembly of various electromechanical and electronic assemblies within you team
- Supervise the team to make sure they are following blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to completed and successful tasks within in deadlines.
- Provide technical guidance to the team and review the work for compliance within accepted practices.
- Work as the general supervision that all safety guidelines are followed
- Rely on your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals for the installation team.
To be successful in this role, you will:
Successfully undergo a Background Investigation, Drug Screen, and obtain access to shipyard, NAVSTA & DBIDS.- This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens.
- Have Vocational Training and 8-10 years of Shipboard experience of managing a team of installers, scheduling and overseeing the installation.
- Be able to work in high heat spaces, climb shipyard dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking, lift up to 50 pounds with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40 pounds for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position. Attention to safety is critical.
- Be familiar with NAVSEA, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of electrical repair, fabrication, and installation.
- Willing to work second or thirds shift as needed and more than 40 hours work weeks.
- Be AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE TRAVEL and willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Be willing to travel to various work sites such as Virginia Beach VA, Bremerton WA, Everett WA, Pearl Harbor HI, Mayport FL, and Yokosuka Japan.
Preferred Experience:
- 8 to 10 years of Experience Traveling for work
- Secret Clearance
- A valid US Passport
