JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently seeking a Press Operator, the Press Operator is responsible for running a 4-color press in the production of our clients printing needs. We rely on the Press Operator to help ensure all the printed products meet or exceed our customers’ expectations and help reduce the cost of errors through consistent quality work.
The Press Operator position requires the use of basic math skills, familiarization of our different product sizes in regards to orientation (length x width) and the ability to identify the different paper stocks used (gloss, un-coated, coated).
RESPONSIBILITIES
This list is intended to be a representative, not all-inclusive, list of duties a Press Operator may be asked to perform.
- Preparation & start-up of press
- Assuring proper stock & materials inventories
- Troubleshooting problems
- Press inspection, clean up and maintenance
- Completion of logs and paperwork
- The role is physically demanding
- The work is done while standing
- The ability to perform basic math calculations
- Work in a fast paced, ever changing work environment
- Maintain efficient workflow and accountability for quality and efficiency of work
- Ensure quality by approving every job before it leaves the shop
- Completes tasks independently
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot various offset and digital printing equipment
- Interprets a variety of instructions and job requirements provided in written or verbal form
- Effectively manages the production schedule and production materials in expected time-frame requiring the ability to:
- Multi-task between numerous productions
- Finish projects on a continuous basis
- Reprioritize as needed to ensure deadlines are met
- Assists other print operators in material handling as necessary
- Ensure facility is clean and organized, safety precautions are being followed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Pressman: 3 years experience
- Production scheduling experience
- Ability to read and understand oral/written instructions
- Production experience with offset and digital printing equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including spelling and math
- Prompt, reliable, and responsible
- The ability to bend and lift 10-15 pounds continuously, ability to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally, stand long hours, use hands and wrists continuously in controlled movement
