Overview:
Under direct supervision, performs daily vehicle servicing which includes vehicle movement, cleaning and servicing, fueling, refilling consumables and minor inspections.
The starting pay rate for this position is $20.71 an hour. Pay rate increases incrementally according to the union contract. Current top wage is $24.67 after 36 months.
This position will remain open until filled.

- Inspects vehicles for appropriate level of fuel, oil, water, air, battery water, and replenishes as needed.
- Performs minor bus cleaning duties such as cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles.
- Lifts fare boxes and other sizable equipment.
- Parks and delivers motor vehicles.
- Observes and reports mechanical and other defects.
- Cleans and washes equipment; cleans and cares for tools.
- Keeps simple records of gauge readings and quantities of supplies used.
- Performs minor duties such as replacing lights, mirrors, window guards, etc.
- Assists in cleaning shop and working areas.
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is preferred. Any combination of education and experience which has led to the ability to perform the above duties; experience as a garage or service station attendant is desirable.
Special Qualifications:
- Good DMV record in accordance with agency standards.
- Work location is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Must be able to work various shifts.
- Possession of approved steel-toed safety shoes for wear on the job.
Knowledge of:
- Methods and procedures used in cleaning and servicing equipment.
- Vehicle fluid level requirements.
- Automotive chassis and auto bodies.
Ability to:
- Work on any shift at any agency location.
- Maintain service records.
- Clean and service equipment.
- Follow directions.
Safety Sensitive:
Positions in this job classification are considered safety sensitive and are subject to drug and alcohol testing, including but not limited to pre-employment testing, post-accident testing and random testing, under Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) drug and alcohol regulations, and U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, 49 CFR Part 40 and Part 655.
