A Day in the Life:
As a Service Truck Technician you will be expected to repair and install tires on primarily farm and industrial equipment at the producer's farms. You are responsible for the service truck and will be on call but will also be expected to inspect, diagnose, and perform basic preventative maintenance including routine oil changes and/or transmission fluid and filters on all types of vehicles. Tires will be the bulk of your responsibility so you must be knowledgeable in tire maintenance, how to run the crane and hydraulic equipment on the truck, and the products we offer. Our Technicians must know how to utilize technology so they can use the computerized wheel balancer, tire machine, alignment machine, and the Ag tire machine. You will be cross trained in most positions at the service station. You will be expected to install, repair, mount, balance, rotate, and replace all tires and wheels, and do tractor conversions all on and off the farm. You will have to be mechanically inclined as you will be working on and around vehicles all day. Safe driving practices are expected as you are regularly in the service truck on the road, when in the shop you will assist in routine housekeeping and maintenance. You will also be asked to help load and unload products for customers may be asked to get certified in propane bottle fill. Depending on the facility, you may be asked and expected to help other departments during peak demand times. This would include agronomy to help load NH3 tanks and grain to assist in the loading and unloading of trucks and trains. Customer service is of the upmost importance as you will be interacting with customers daily. You will be expected to work hard, and you will have to work more hours during busy seasons. What You'll Need to Do This Job:
- High School Diploma and/or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- CDL A or B Depending on truck (willing to train right individual)
- Tire or auto experience preferred
- Highly motivated self-starter
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- The ability to think clearly and problem solve
- The desire to be involved in agriculture and work for a cooperative
- Physically, this position requires you to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, push, pry, and pull on a regular basis
- This position requires you to regularly lift at least 50 pounds up to 100 pounds
- You will be exposed to lubricants, grain dust, chemicals/fertilizers, and outdoor elements and temperatures
- You must be flexible with your schedule as more hours will be expected during harvest and planting seasons and you may be asked to be available when trains come to unload/load grain
